Carlos Chacin Art
Biography
Carlos Chacin is a Italian-Colombian artist, born in 1974 in Santa Marta.
As well as being Colombian, Chacin sees himself as Caribbean, as a term that gives him more universality to the context in which he developed his artistic production in the visual medium.
Being Caribbean is also a philosophical position towards life that makes us see and feel differently, because in this area, all races and cultures come together, giving us the hybrid features that are found in each of the signs and symbols present in Chacin’s artworks.
After starting his training at Santa Marta, Chacin went off to study at the Academy of Fine Arts of Havana in Cuba.
Affinity with the Italian Arte Povera led him to leave for Italy in 1999, where he settled for three years and confronted the Italian Renaissance with the contemporary aspect of Arte Povera.
Chacin returned to his homeland in 2002, where he developed new projects to then leave again for Europe, this time to Paris, where he has lived and worked since 2010.
